City of Hope’s growing national system includes its Los Angeles campus, a network of clinical care locations across Southern California, a new cancer center in Orange County, California, and cancer treatment centers and outpatient facilities in the Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix areas. The successful candidate: Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of critically ill medical and surgical adolescent/adult patients. Provides acute care per protocols. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by patient care partners and other health care team members in the department. Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care. Cares for med surg and telemetry patients as necessary. Recovers MAC local patients when PACU not open. Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms /trends, and institute appropriate interventions. Caring for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients. Initiating and maintain complex IV therapy , including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines. Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors. Must be able to work 7:00p-7:00a Qualifications Your qualifications should include: Critical Care/Telemetry experience or Telemetry competency within 6 months of hire. State of Illinois Registered Nurse License. Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through American Heart Association upon hire and maintained in position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified through American Heart Association upon hire and maintained in position. ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy or Chemotherapy Immunotherapy course obtained within 6 months of hire for experienced RN’s and 12 months for New Grad RNs. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)certification within 6 months of hire and maintained in position. Oncology Certification through ONCC when eligible or 6 oncology CE every year (18 oncology CE total every 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle. Must complete Caring for the Oncology Patient course by end of orientation period. Completes Critical Care Series in Education System within 12 months of hire.
