About this Unit
The Emergency Department at M Health Fairview Lakes Medical Center is a fast-paced, collaborative environment dedicated to providing exceptional emergency care to our community. As a 25-bed Emergency Department and Level IV Trauma Center, we care for more than 32,000 patients annually, averaging 85 patient visits per day, with volumes continuing to grow.
Our multidisciplinary team includes Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Technicians, and Health Unit Coordinators working together to provide high-quality, compassionate care. The department serves patients across the lifespan, including newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
Nurses in our ED care for a broad range of patient acuity, from minor illnesses and injuries to complex emergencies, including acute stroke care, trauma stabilization, and ECMO initiation in partnership with system transport and specialty teams. Our team is committed to clinical excellence, innovation, teamwork, and delivering exceptional care to every patient, every time.
Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
- Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
- Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
- Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
- Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
Required
Qualifications
- 1 year of ED or ICU RN experience
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
Preferred
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing
- 1 year ED experience
- Certification by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing as a CEN or CPEN
- 1 year RN Emergency Department, pediatric/adult critical care, or telemetry experience
