Duties

Closely monitor students and perform health screenings

Provide healthcare to students

Conducting student hearing and vision screenings

Educating students on hygiene and safety practices

Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions

Verifying vaccination records

Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected

Administering first aid and CPR

Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises

Contacting parents when student is ill or injured

Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers

Serve as liaisons between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environment

Requirements

Current unrestricted RN Registered Nurse in the state of NJ

School Nurse Certification

Physical for employment, negative TB skin test or chest x-ray

MUST have 3 References (2 Professional, 1 Personal)

Understands regulatory compliance with state and federal regulations

Adhere to HIPAA and maintain client confidentiality

Must be an easy-going nurse - someone who can go with the flow but also a team player
