Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on the MS/Tele unit ( COPD, pneumonia, chest pain rule-out, cellulitis, nonspecific abdominal pain ) across a 25-bed unit with an average census around 20.
- Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms; escalate promptly using Rapid Response and Code teams as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications, manage IV therapy (peripheral IVs; central line/PICC care where applicable); administer blood products as ordered.
- Provide non-invasive airway support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC) and oxygen therapy; implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
- Collaborate with PT, Respiratory, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Pharmacy, and Unit Secretary; document thoroughly in the Epic EHR.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning; float to assist as needed within the unit and related services according to staffing.
Requirements
- Licenses: Active New York RN license in hand and eligible for submission.
Certifications
BLS and ACLS required.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of Med-Surgical/Telemetry experience; travel experience required. Previous charge nurse experience not specified.
- EMR: Epic experience required.
Skills
Telemetry monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation/management; IV starts and maintenance; blood product administration; non-invasive airway support; oxygen and isolation precautions.
- Other: Ability to work in a 24/7 MS/Tele environment and to float as needed; completion of orientation (12 hours) prior to full duties.
- Location restrictions: NY license must be active and in hand to submit. Local radius considerations apply: candidates must be 50 miles from the assignment; internal notes indicate candidates within 75 miles are not accepted—please confirm radius with the account manager before submitting. RTO restrictions: cannot submit candidates with more than 10 days of time off. Return staff policy: 1 year.
