Assistant Nurse Manager – Complex Medicine Unit

Joining the 5th floor team means helping shape a growing unit while being supported by engaged leaders and teammates dedicated to an exceptional patient experience. Daily plan-of-care visits with the attending provider promote clear communication, shared goals, and a more connected experience for patients and families. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and an on-call weekend and holiday rotation requirement.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direction and support to the unit staff and supervise admissions, conducts assessment of patient's needs, and initiates nursing care plans. Evaluate and document patient progress. Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.

Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit. Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff and other areas within the organization. Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.

Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage. Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives. Participate in department and committees as assigned.

Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross. Two years of recent clinical nursing experience.

Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
