  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories.
  • Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and other treatments following established protocols and safety standards.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results.
  • Manage complex care needs such as wound suturing, ostomy care, ventilator management, and dialysis procedures.
  • Provide critical care support in high-acuity environments like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; deliver trauma medicine and acute pain management.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medication regimens, nutrition plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and specialists in specialties such as cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious disease care, behavioral health, geriatrics, pediatrics, and hospice & palliative medicine.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain meticulous medical documentation for legal and quality assurance purposes.
  • Participate in triage processes in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize patient needs efficiently.

*Requirements*

  • Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with relevant state licensing authorities.
  • Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, medical-surgical units or outpatient clinics.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and nursing documentation standards.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical records management is essential.
  • Competency in performing procedures like venipuncture (phlebotomy), catheterization (urinary or vascular), sterile technique for suturing or dressing changes.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator care), adults with chronic conditions or developmental disabilities.
  • Critical thinking skills for patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation; adept at managing acute pain and airway management techniques.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Experience working within long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is preferred.
  • Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
