Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine immediate needs and long-term care plans.

- Administer medications and injections with precision, including IV infusions, medication administration, and injection techniques such as botulinum toxin treatments when applicable.
- Operate and document using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and sterile technique practices in various settings including ICU, OR, or outpatient clinics.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of services for patients requiring hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health support, or memory care.
- Provide triage and urgent care assessments for patients presenting with acute pain or infectious disease symptoms; manage trauma cases in Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
- Support patients with complex needs such as those requiring dialysis, ventilator management, neonatal resuscitation procedures, or neonatal ventilator support.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in long-term care settings like nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
- Proficiency in advanced clinical skills such as cardiac catheterization assistance, telemetry monitoring, laboratory specimen collection/processing, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of physiology principles related to critical care (emergency response procedures), trauma medicine, infectious disease control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; ability to document accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards like NCQA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures including venipuncture (phlebotomy), Hoyer lift operation for patient mobility assistance, ostomy care management, and gastrostomy tube feeding.
- Experience working in hospital medicine units such as ICU or PICU; emergency room experience; or outpatient clinics providing primary care or urgent care services.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to internal medicine, obstetrics (including labor & delivery), neonatal/infant care, and geriatrics; capable of performing physical examinations and vital signs assessment confidently.
