Job Summary: The Certified Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing medical care to patients with substance use and mental health disorders. Responsibilities and Duties: Makes decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment of patients being seen for the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluations of a previously diagnosed and stabilized condition. Initiates appropriate evaluation and emergency management for situations such as cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, injuries, burns and hemorrhage. Performs clinical procedures including venipuncture, intradermal tests, application of dressings and bandages, removal of foreign bodies, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and audiometry screening. Provides counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems. Completes initial history and physical examinations on patients and periodic medical assessments as necessary. Initiates orders for medications and laboratory studies for the treatment of substance detoxification and other medical problems. Collects specimens for and carries out commonly performed blood, urine and stool analysis and cultures. Identifies normal and abnormal findings and initiates request for appropriate follow-up studies. Completes required documentation for history and physical examinations, assessments, recommendations, and patient discharge summaries. Operates as part of multi-disciplinary treatment team. Stays current with evolving science and clinical practice and shares best practices and knowledge with others. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience: Master's degree from an accredited college. Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Pennsylvania. Current Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Active DEA license. Experience working with patients with chemical dependency disorders preferred. Current CPR/First Aid certification. Coverage is needed on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with flexible hours and dates.
