Position Summary

The Registered Nurse provides high-level, compassionate, and evidence-based care to critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery, vascular procedures, heart transplants, or other complex cardiovascular conditions. The RN is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and managing patients with advanced hemodynamic support needs, including ventilators, chest tubes, and invasive lines. The role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly in high-acuity situations.

Provide direct patient care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients in a critical care setting. Monitor, interpret, and respond to complex cardiac rhythms, invasive hemodynamic data, and other vital parameters. Manage patients requiring advanced therapies such as IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), Impella, ECMO, CRRT, and mechanical ventilation.

Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac medications per physician orders and facility protocols. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, etc.) to coordinate and optimize patient care plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and ongoing care. Ensure adherence to infection control, safety, and quality standards. Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and continuing education to maintain clinical competency.

BLS and ACLS required CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) preferred TNCC or other advanced critical care certifications a plus

Experience

Minimum of 1–2 years of recent ICU or CVICU experience required Proficiency in interpreting ECGs, hemodynamic monitoring, and managing post-op cardiac patients

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).

Licensure

Current RN license in good standing.
