Role Overview

Provides comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient treatment, serving as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment.

Educates patients and families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.

Utilizes pharmacology knowledge to safely administer medications following policy guidelines.

Contributes to resource management, staffing, and productivity efforts.

Ensures compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

Supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model through participation in unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer reviews.

Engages in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training.

Incorporates current evidence-based research into practice.

Provides mentorship and a supportive environment for new staff and students.

Performs duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles when assigned.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing school Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and prior clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care Current NYS RN license or valid NYS Limited Permit for GNs Preferred: Professional certification in a nursing specialty and relevant skills certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
