Wilson sits in eastern North Carolina with a quiet, small-city feel rooted in tobacco-farming heritage. Downtown draws locals and visitors to the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park, a sprawling outdoor display of kinetic wind sculptures. It is a practical home base for nurses seeking a slower pace between Raleigh and the coast.
