About this role

Renders nursing care to patients in the pre-procedure area, procedure room, recovery room in terms of individual needs, according to standard techniques and established policies and procedures. Works cooperatively with physicians and other staff members

Job Relationships

  • A. Responsible to Nurse Manager
  • B. Assignments received from Nurse Manager
  • C. Positions Supervised: LPNs, Endoscopy Technicians, Medical Assistants

Core Processes and Activities

A summary of the major job duties include the following. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, as needed and may change over time.

Provides patient care in the Endoscopy Center under the direction of the RNs and the physicians. Oversees LPNs and reviews documentation in the EMR. Practices effective interpersonal communication skills. Maintains clinical and professional competency according to policy, procedure, and protocols and as appropriate for the ages of patients served. Performs job duties in compliance with established safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are the minimum necessary to adequately perform this job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.

Education

Completion of an RN or LPN program leading to RN / LPN licensure with the NC Board of Nursing Current BLS certification Current ACLS certification is preferred

Work

Experience

Previous endoscopy experience preferred.

Knowledge, Sills, and Abilities required include

Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs and is able to modify patient care accordingly. Computer skills with solid keyboard skills and experience with EndoSoft and eClinicalworks is preferred.
