About this role
The Breast Nurse Navigator coordinates patient care from primary care and imaging services through the multispecialty cancer care team. This role supports timely communication, helps streamline diagnostic and treatment workflows, and serves as a consistent point of contact for patients, referring physicians, radiologists, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary care team.
Responsibilities
Imaging Center Responsibilities
The nurse navigator shares time between the imaging center and the breast specialty clinic. At the imaging center, key responsibilities include:

Collaborating with radiologists during biopsy procedures, including obtaining consent, providing post-procedure care, labeling specimens, and completing follow-up phone calls with patients and referring physicians.
Obtaining pathology results and communicating findings to referring physicians and patients, as appropriate.
Serving as a liaison between primary care physicians and the cancer care team, including helping arrange timely appointments with the multidisciplinary care team.
Breast Specialty Clinic Responsibilities
At the breast specialty clinic, key responsibilities include
Coordinating consultations with the multidisciplinary care team and serving as a single point of contact for breast cancer patients throughout the care continuum.
Helping expedite workups for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, including coordinating metastatic evaluations when needed.
Conducting post-operative phone calls to assess recovery, answer questions, and identify concerns that may require follow-up.
Triaging phone calls in the breast surgery clinic and directing patient needs to the appropriate team member.
Reviewing results with patients and scheduling follow-up appointments under physician direction.
Following patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy, assisting with follow-up appointments, and helping address barriers to treatment.
Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Eight years of RN experience, highly preferred.
Current California Registered Nurse License
CPR certification required.
Strong customer service background, preferably in healthcare environment
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
Proficiency in computer processing functions and other standard office equipment
Ability to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tact.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and flexibility with changing environments.
Strong organizational skills.
