Position Responsibilities
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and their families.
- Perform stoma site marking and assessment.
- Manage and assess stoma complications and provide appropriate interventions.
- Provide wound care and skin care around the stoma site.
- Educate patients on ostomy care products and their proper usage.
- Develop individualized care plans for patients with ostomies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Conduct routine follow-up visits with patients to monitor progress and address concerns.
- Offer psychological and emotional support to patients adjusting to life with an ostomy.
- Educate healthcare staff on best practices for ostomy care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Qualifications
License/Registration/Certification
- Current licensure in the State of Florida. CWOCN certification required.
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.
Experience
- Minimum two years of clinical nursing experience. Previous experience working in a surgical or medical-surgical nursing unit.
