The nurse in the pre-op role coordinates the care of the patient and is the patient advocate throughout the pre-operative experience. Responsibilities Assesses the physical, psychosocial, and growth and development needs of the patient. Develops a plan of care using assessment data. Plan of care is individualized to include specific patient problems and needs. Implements nursing education assessment on assigned patients. Evaluates the patient’s response to nursing interventions and teaching. Demonstrates leadership skills Qualifications Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications Florida R. N. licensure Basic Life Support Minimum Experience One year med/surgical experience preferred.
