Duties

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.

• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; accurately document findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

• Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral health support.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments like ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers to deliver timely patient service.

• Facilitate patient transfers using appropriate methods and equipment while practicing safe lifting practices and heavy lifting precautions.

• Document medical records accurately within EMR/EHR systems; ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and medical terminology standards.

• Support patients in home & community care settings or long-term care facilities by providing compassionate caregiving tailored to individual needs.

• Engage in ongoing training related to geriatrics, pediatric care, hospice support, infectious disease management, and other specialized areas to enhance your expertise.

Experience

• Prior experience working with diverse patient populations including seniors, pediatrics, or individuals with disabilities is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) procedures such as CPR is essential.

• Experience working within hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals enhances your ability to thrive in fast-paced settings like ICU or emergency medicine units.

• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks is advantageous for efficient documentation and patient record management.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines is critical.

• Long-term care facility experience or home & community care experience will support your success in delivering compassionate geriatric and behavioral health services.

• Certification in medication administration or phlebotomy adds value but is not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available for skill development.
