Essential Functions And Basic Duties

Position Specific Performance Expectations

Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Identifies barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary May precept student nurses and new hires.

Employs critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Performs other duties as assigned.

Partners with the healthcare consumer to implement a patient centered plan of care. Demonstrates caring attitudes and behaviors to develop therapeutic relationships. Uses evidence-based interventions and strategies to achieve optimal outcomes.

Integrates critical thinking and technology solutions. Delegates according to the health, safety and welfare of the patients we serve. Demonstrates respect, equity, and empathy in actions and interactions with culturally diverse and vulnerable patients.

Organization Wide Performance Expectations

Demonstrates commitment to performing according to the CHOICE values of MRH and representing the organization in a positive and professional manner. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Upholds regulatory requirements to ensure continual compliance with departmental, hospital, state and federal regulations and policies.

Follows all policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, public and staff. Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes. Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff and vendors.

Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (21 for driving positions)
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable)
  • Must complete employee health meeting

Education/Licensure/Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Unencumbered RN License – Colorado or Compact State required
  • Current Certification BLS- required
  • ACLS – required within 1 year
  • PALS or ENPC – required within 1 year

Experience

Med/Surg experience preferred
