About this role
Midwest Recovery Centers provides quality treatment to the community of Kansas City, specializing in treatment for substance use disorders focusing on drug and alcohol dependence and residential step down Behavioral Health. We are looking for a qualified and passionate LPN to serve as Charge Nurse for our Kansas City locations. As a member of our medical leadership team, our Charge Nurse role combines direct patient care with staff education and some administrative duties.
The Charge Nurse works two set 12-hour shifts per week, at our Detox and Mental Health residential treatment facilities. The remaining time will be focused on staff education and competencies. The Charge Nurse will take one week of on-call duties every 5-6 weeks.

- Be easily accessible via email and telephone when scheduled on call
- Manage call offs and fill ins when needed
- Participate in Orientation activities of all newly hired nursing staff including providing basic nursing education standards, introducing protocols and procedures and addressing nursing expectations
- Maintain and update inventory
- Follow up with current employees on nursing objectives, protocols and understanding of duties quarterly to ensure continued compliance
- Complete and train nursing staff on yearly nursing competencies and display exemplary understanding and education in these areas
- Maintain and update facility education tools as necessary.
- Return urgent calls/reply within 30 minutes- 1 hour time frame while on-call
- Be flexible and available to sub in for call offs if viable replacement cannot be made
- Be well versed in standard operating procedures for MRC including exemplary execution of all nursing duties, protocols, and general information
- Maintain contact information for all pertinent MRC employees for communications as well as all Detox/Residential employees (medical and non-medical) and Behavioral Health Location employees
- Able to maintain duties while in and outside of facilities with ability to multitask and be flexible at all times.
- Maintain professionalism and HIPAA compliance
- Have at least 1 year experience in mental health services and/or substance use disorders
- Will float between Substance Use Recovery Center Detox/Residential and Behavioral Health Residential facilities.
