Job Description
Shriners Children’s is seeking a skilled and collaborative part-time Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to join our pediatric orthopedic outreach clinic in Medford, Oregon. This 0.75 FTE position offers an outstanding opportunity to provide specialized orthopedic care to children throughout Southern Oregon while working as part of a dedicated, mission-driven pediatric orthopedic team. The Medford Clinic serves as an extension of Shriners Children’s Portland, bringing specialized pediatric orthopedic care closer to children and families in Southern Oregon.
The clinic evaluates and treats both new and established patients, while surgical procedures are performed at Shriners Children’s Portland. Preoperative visits are coordinated through telehealth or in Portland, and postoperative follow-up care is provided locally in Medford whenever appropriate. The provider will work closely with Shriners Children’s Portland pediatric orthopedic surgeons to assist in the management of pediatric patients with a wide range of orthopedic conditions in an exclusively outpatient setting.
Responsibilities include conducting new patient evaluations, routine follow-up appointments, preoperative and postoperative care, fracture management, casting and splinting procedures, patient and family education, and care coordination. Conditions commonly treated include intoeing, knock knees, fractures, clubfoot, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, hip dysplasia, muscular dystrophy, neurofibromatosis, and other pediatric musculoskeletal disorders. To support onboarding and specialty development, the selected provider will participate in a structured pediatric orthopedic training program that includes two days of in-person training each month at Shriners Children’s Portland, with travel-related expenses covered, as well as two days of remote training each month focused on clinical education, case review, and pediatric orthopedic care.
As competencies are achieved, the provider will assume increasing responsibility in the independent management of pediatric orthopedic patients. The clinic operates Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There are no call, night, or operating room responsibilities, offering an excellent work-life balance.
Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of three years of advanced practice experience. Prior experience in orthopedics, pediatric orthopedics, pediatrics, sports medicine, or a related specialty is strongly preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional, family-centered care.
This is an excellent opportunity for a provider passionate about pediatric orthopedics to practice in a highly specialized environment while helping expand access to world-class care throughout Southern Oregon and advancing Shriners Children’s mission of providing care regardless of a family's ability to pay. Based on the 0.75 FTE commitment, the annualized compensation is expected to range from approximately $114,700 to $172,000 depending on years of advanced practice experience, assuming a standard full-time equivalency schedule. In addition, Shriners Children’s offers a comprehensive benefits package for benefit-eligible employees, including medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
