Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative patient care as the OR Circulator, maintaining sterile technique and circulating among surgical teams during procedures.
- Prepare the operating room, ensure availability of instruments, implants, and supplies, and manage instrument counts with accuracy.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, handling equipment, and documenting intraoperative events and patient status.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, draping, and safe transfer to the recovery area; monitor patient safety and communicate changes to the team.
- Support anesthesia providers and surgeons as needed, anticipate needs, and manage equipment troubleshooting during procedures.
- Participate in post-operative handoffs, document outcomes, and assist with specimen handling and transport as required.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (or appropriate state licensure for practice location)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Call credentials (CNOR, PANAC, AAOPU) preferred for the area of practice
- OR Circulator experience preferred; ability to function effectively in a surgical setting
- Ability to work in a hospital OR environment and adapt to potential schedule changes
