The Behavioral Health RN provides safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health and behavioral health conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to behavioral health patients in accordance with hospital policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements

- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including mental status examinations, risk assessments, and ongoing evaluations
- Administer medications and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
- Implement individualized care plans and participate in treatment team meetings
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention when necessary
- Accurately document patient care, observations, and interventions in the electronic medical record
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support patient recovery
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies
- Uphold patient confidentiality and demonstrate respect, dignity, and empathy at all times
- Support unit operations during night shift, including patient monitoring, admissions, and emergency response as needed
Qualifications
- Current Pennsylvania RN license in good standing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, or psychiatric nursing preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in challenging situations
