Job Summary
Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
Experience
- One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
- Registered Nurse, State of CT
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties
Language Skills
Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
- Applies the principles and practices of nursing.
- Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.
- Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.
- Knowledge of high reliability.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
- Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
- Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
- Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.
- Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities.
- Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs. Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.
