Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job

• Work setting: hospital-based Med Surg unit in Pagosa Springs, CO

Responsibilities

• Deliver RN-level bedside care for Med Surg patients per physician orders and care plans
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and modify care plans, document changes, and reassess patient status
• Monitor for changes in condition; administer medications, IV therapies, oxygen, blood products, and other treatments; operate infusion pumps with accurate documentation
• Document in Cerner EHR and use Care Compass to organize assessments, tasks, procedures, and patient education
• Perform age-appropriate nursing care, interpret cardiac rhythms, and escalate concerns using SBAR as needed
• Educate patients and families on disease process, treatments, medications, pain management, wound care, discharge planning, and follow-up care
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team to support continuity of care and reduce readmission risk
• Maintain infection prevention practices and protect patient confidentiality; mentor junior staff as needed

Requirements

• Current Colorado RN license in good standing
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required
• ACLS certification, or ability to complete the next available course within 3 months
• PALS certification, or ability to complete the next available course within 3 months
• Cerner EHR experience required; strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office and EHR systems)
• Minimum of two years Med Surg experience strongly desired
• BSN preferred but not required
• Excellent communication skills in English; ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
