Nursing Resume FAQs

Is the resume builder really free?

Yes. Building, downloading, printing, and sharing your resume are 100% free, with no trial and no page limit. You make a free account when you download or save it, so it stays in your locker for the next job.

How long does it take?

About 10 minutes for most nurses. If you already have a resume or LinkedIn profile, it can be faster, since we only ask about what's missing.

How long should a nursing resume be?

One page for new grads and most nurses. Two pages when ten or more years of experience need the room. We fit it to the page for you.

What should a new grad nursing resume include?

Your license status, BLS, your degree, and your preceptorship and clinical rotations with their units and hours. They go under Experience, just like a hospital role. CNA, tech, and volunteer work count too.

What certifications go on a nursing resume?

Every license and certification you hold now, with its full name and who issued it: BLS, ACLS and PALS from the American Heart Association, CEN from BCEN, CCRN from AACN Certification Corporation. One you are still working toward is never listed as earned.

Should I put my license number on my resume?

You don't need to, and we never ask for it. Your license type, state and status go up top. If a hospital asks for the number, add it yourself in the editor before you apply.

Will my resume work with hospital application systems?

Your resume uses a clean, single-column layout, standard section headings, and a simple font, so applicant tracking systems can read it easily.

Can I use my existing resume or LinkedIn profile?

Yes. Upload a file, paste your text, or use your LinkedIn profile. We'll show you what we found and ask only about the gaps.

What formats can I download?

PDF, Word, and plain text. Use Word for hospital application portals, PDF for email and job fairs, and plain text to paste into online forms.
