A February or March start can come with a September application deadline. UCLA and Baylor Scott & White have already closed their winter and spring windows, while Texas Health has winter positions posted and Mayo Clinic Rochester accepts applications during the first eight days of each month.

Build the Packet Before the Window Opens
Start a folder for each program. Save its application deadline, license deadline and required documents together, so a short window doesn't become a scramble for a recommendation letter.
UCLA asks for a resume, cover letter and two recommendations. After you submit the application, a questionnaire arrives by email. Texas Health asks for a resume, unofficial transcripts and a one-to-two-page essay about a meaningful clinical situation.

Put the License Deadline Beside the Start Date
UCLA requires a California RN license by the program start. Texas Health requires boards to be passed before the residency begins and lists a fifteen-month work agreement starting on the first day.
Before accepting an offer, ask when your license must be active, what happens if it is delayed, and what you would owe if you left before a work commitment ends. Keep the written answer with the offer.

Put the next recruitment date for your preferred program on your calendar and keep looking at programs that fit your graduation date, location and specialty. Compare the orientation, preceptor support, pay and schedule of the job you would have.
