What did they actually ask in your new grad interview?

The question

   Caught me off guard: tell me about a time you disagreed with someone more senior. I had prepared conflict with a peer and had nothing ready for upward, and I fumbled it badly enough that I have prepared it ever since.

   The one that mattered most was how do you like to be given feedback. It sounded soft and was in fact the entire question, because the answer told them how they would have to precept me.

   Warning sign version, since you asked. I was asked how I handle being floated, in an interview for a unit that had told me thirty seconds earlier that floating was rare.

   Not a trick, just an honest slip. I took the job anyway and I do float, so the question was the truer of the two statements.

3. HPHarper past the first codeRN, 10 months in, PCU

   Prepare one real story with a bad outcome in it. Everyone arrives with three triumphs and a preceptor can spot a polished story instantly.

   Mine was a shift where I fell behind and had to ask for help two hours later than I should have. Saying that out loud got a better reaction than anything I had rehearsed.
