In an OR new grad program. What should I have asked first?

Circulating through a new grad program and it is going fine, but I signed without knowing what to compare it against.
Things I only learned after starting: how long I am precepted, who decides when that ends, and what happens if the answer is not yes at the end of it.
For anyone who has been through a specialty program. What is the question you would put at the top of the list for somebody about to sign one?

Ask who owns the decision that you are ready, and ask it of the manager rather than the recruiter. In mine the educator ran the program and the manager ran the schedule, and when those two disagreed about my timeline the schedule won every time.
Second one: ask what the program did last time somebody needed longer. A program with an answer has done it before. A program that has never needed one is telling you something else.

Ask whether the program comes with a commitment and what leaving early costs. Mine did and I did not notice until I wanted to move.
It is a fair trade if you know about it going in. What is not fair is finding out at the point you have already decided to go.
