Clinic offer now, or hold out for the winter residency cohort?

The clinic offer is in writing and it's a good one. The residency I want opens applications in three weeks and starts in February.
Every version of this question I've read this month gets answered with take the job, which I understand, and then nobody says what taking it does to the residency application. Does outpatient read as experience that helps, or does it end my eligibility because I've held an RN position?
If you took something outpatient first and got into a residency anyway, I'd like to hear how that went. And if a program told you no because of it, I'd rather know that now than in February.

I took what was in front of me and I'd make the same call now. What I'd tell you is to read the eligibility line on the residency posting before you sign anything, because that line is the only place the answer exists.
Mine said no prior RN experience in an acute setting. Outpatient went unmentioned, so I emailed the coordinator to ask, and the reply came back inside a day saying it wouldn't count against me. That email took four minutes and it saved me a month of guessing.
