For the people it shut off early on: what was the wait like?
Sam studying lateThe question
My date is set and I have read every version of the shut off theory there is. I know the number does not mean what people want it to mean.
What I have not found is anyone describing the hours afterward honestly. Everything is either a celebration post or a horror story.
So for whoever is willing. It ended early for you, you walked out, and then what. What did you do with that evening, and what did you tell people who asked how it went?

Both of mine ended at the same place, one bad and one good, so I am in the odd position of knowing for certain the number tells you nothing.
The evening after the first one I told everybody it went fine, because I could not say the other thing out loud yet. After the second I also said almost nothing, which was the same feeling in a completely different coat. Whatever you say that night, you are allowed to revise it later.

Practical answer since nobody gives one. Line up the evening before you go in. I had a film picked and a friend who had been told not to ask me anything, and that was worth more than any coping strategy I tried to invent in the parking lot.
The hours are not the problem. Being alone with them is.

What I told people was that it is done and I will know when I know. Repeat it identically to everyone who asks and they stop asking, which is the actual goal.
The relatives who kept pushing were not being unkind, they just had no script either.
What would you tell them?
Answer from what you have seen. It posts without your name.
