Rather than operating as a traditional healthcare facility, Oakmont Education employs Healthcare Instructors who teach and certify students in short-term, stackable healthcare credentials through a dedicated Healthcare Pathway program. These instructors manage certification processes for National Healthcareer Association (NHA) credentials (Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, Certified Patient Care Technician, Clinical Medical Assistant) and State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification through the Ohio Department of Health. For a nurse or healthcare professional, working at Oakmont would mean functioning as an educator and certifier rather than a direct patient care provider, guiding at-risk youth toward healthcare careers. The organization is in active growth mode, expanding its model into new communities, and was named a finalist for the YASS Prize for education innovation. Nate Miller was appointed CEO in July 2024, bringing leadership experience from the U.S. Army and Goodyear Tire.
