If you are new to practice, you join a one-year residency that is PTAP Accredited with Distinction by ANCC, with cohorts in March, June, September, and December on day or night shifts. You get a staff RN preceptor, and mentorship and group meetings run the full year. Tracks include Med/Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ED, L&D, OR, NICU, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, and Behavioral Health. On the floors you might land a 29-bed Medical Surgical Neuroscience unit (7 Tower) for strokes, epilepsy, and neurosurgery on a 7am–7:30pm, 36-hour week pattern, Medical Unit III, or an ED that cares for trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology. System residency postings commonly list base pay around $48.29–$49.53 an hour, with other new-grad and RN ranges posted somewhat lower or higher depending on site and role. Benefits language includes health eligibility within 30 days, PTO, retirement, tuition reimbursement, and related coverage. The hospital is union. In 2023 nurses struck for months over staffing and contract terms before members approved a contract that included staffing-standard gains. Travel nurses still describe frequent travel contracts and thin staffing, so you should weigh that history against the residency structure and unit options when you decide whether to apply.
