Getting around+Edmond residents commute primarily by car, with average commute times around 22 minutes. The primary regional corridor is Interstate 35, which connects Edmond directly to Oklahoma City roughly 15 to 20 miles to the south. While travel to local healthcare facilities—including Edmond's two community hospitals and surgical center—is relatively quick within town, morning and evening rushes along I-35 and major east-west arteries experience heavy congestion. Local residents frequently note that cross-town traffic along key commercial thoroughfares can feel unexpectedly bottlenecked for a suburban community.
