Overview
The Care Coordinator works in collaborate with the Newport News Public Schools' Health Services Supervisor to provide professional nursing care to both students and staff at An Achievable Dream Academy, Middle and High School. Performs and interprets health screenings, assesses student's health care needs, administers medication, classroom education and health counseling. The Living Healthy well care model will be used to provide facilitation of individualized goal achievement to improve health and wellness for students and staff. Initiates programs for development and implementation based on clinic needs.

What you will do
- Collaborates with the Newport News Public Schools' Health Services Supervisor to supervise and provide professional nursing care to both students and staff at An Achievable Dream Academy, Middle and High School.
- Performs and interprets health screenings. Assesses the healthcare needs of the students.
- Participates in health fairs and education programs that are offered to our local community.
- Develops surveys to assess the needs of students, staff and or community members and evaluates results. Initiates programs for development and implementation based on clinic needs.
- Creates and maintains an environment that produces a service that is efficient, competent and professional.
- Administers medication.
- Provides classroom education and health counseling.
- Manage supplies and control expenses.
Qualifications
Education
- Program Graduate, Nursing (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
- 1 year experience in well care or community health setting (Required)
- 1 year classroom teaching (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
