*Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) with ProCare* The Registered Nurse Circulator provides nursing care and service during surgery cases. The Circulating RN will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case.
*Qualifications*
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- BLS, ACLS, or PALS as required by the center
- A minimum of 1 year experience working as a Circulator
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment

*Preoperative Responsibilities*
- Verify patient identity, procedure, surgical site, and informed consent
- Review medical history, allergies, laboratory results, and diagnostic testing
- Confirm completion of preoperative requirements and readiness for surgery
- Perform nursing assessment and document findings in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Ensure required equipment, implants, medications, and supplies are available and functioning properly
- Participate in preoperative briefing and surgical planning
*Intraoperative Responsibilities*
- Serve as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and support aseptic practices throughout the procedure
- Conduct and document surgical counts with scrub personnel according to policy
- Assist with patient positioning and implement pressure injury prevention measures
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation
- Administer medications as ordered and within scope of practice
- Monitor patient safety and coordinate intraoperative communication among the surgical team
- Participate in surgical time-out and universal protocol compliance
- Document intraoperative nursing care accurately and completely in the EHR
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, including malignant hyperthermia, fire safety, and code situations
*Postoperative and Unit Responsibilities*
- Provide handoff communication to PACU staff using approved communication tools
- Ensure completion of operative documentation and required records
- Participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives
- Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures
- Report adverse events, safety concerns, or equipment malfunctions per policy
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
