Nature of Work

Under general supervision, these positions provide direct nursing care to physically and developmentally disabled, ill and injured individuals within a structured care setting. Work is typically performed under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed physician. They may direct the activities of nursing assistants and nursing aides in providing basic patient care services.

Specific position assignments may be in: general nursing care, long-term care, behavioral health, dispensary, public health, home health, intensive care, emergency care, recovery room, labor room or other specialized health care function. These positions require participation in continued nursing education. Alternate work schedules are typical.

Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Current West Virginia License or temporary permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
