Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide direct nursing care for perinatal patients across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases; collaborate with the health care team to develop goal-directed care plans.
  • Assess fetal and maternal well-being, monitor amniotic fluid status, vaginal bleeding, and identify and respond to abnormalities or emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
  • Manage labor analgesia and pain control; assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor status during and after administration.
  • Educate patients and families about perinatal care, delivery options, postpartum care, and newborn transition, tailoring information to age, culture, and learning readiness.
  • Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and legibly in the electronic medical record (EPIC); ensure timely communication with the care team.

Requirements

  • Current California RN license

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience; LDRP model experience

Certifications

BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring required

  • Additional: EPIC experience; ability to work night shifts and rotating schedule
