Job Description

Duties/Responsibilities

Provides age‑appropriate, family‑centered nursing care for pediatric patients (infants through adolescents) with medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, and developmental conditions. Assumes accountability for nursing care during radiology procedures, including pre‑procedure assessment, care planning, patient and family education, review of medical history and laboratory results, IV access, administration of nurse‑directed procedural sedation as applicable, intra‑procedure monitoring, post‑procedure recovery, and safe discharge. When general anesthesia is required, collaborates with and assists anesthesiologists during anesthesia induction and emergence.

Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and evidence‑based patient care while advocating for individual patient needs. Demonstrates advanced critical thinking, comprehensive assessment skills, and the ability to manage complex clinical situations. Participates in departmental and hospital‑wide committees, quality improvement initiatives, and change efforts; may function as a preceptor and/or nursing competency validator.

Maintains professional accountability through ongoing education, clinical competency, required licensure and certifications, and completion of mandatory training. Upholds Scottish Rite CARE RITE values, fosters effective professional relationships, acts as a peer advocate, and practices within established ethical and professional standards.

Required Skills/Abilities

Current RN license (state‑specific requirements apply) Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Two or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a pediatric acute care and/or radiology setting strongly preferred. Experience with procedural sedation and recovery strongly preferred.

BLS and PALS certification required (or ability to obtain within required timeframe) Position requires the ability to safely enter and work within the MRI suite in accordance with MRI safety standards. Individuals with medical restrictions that cannot be reasonably accommodated consistent with MRI safety guidelines may be unable to perform essential job functions.
