Monday–Friday, school hours

Pay: RN Rate $50/hr Start Date: 1-2 weeks

Position Summary

Seeking a licensed RN to provide 1:1 private duty nursing care for a medically complex student during school hours in Gwinnett County. This is a school-based assignment requiring skilled seizure management, G-tube feeding, and airway/secretion management for a student with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and chronic respiratory insufficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor respiratory status throughout the school day and perform airway clearance (suctioning, cough assist) as ordered
  • Recognize and respond to seizures per action plan, including administering rescue medications, and notify parents/school staff
  • Administer G-tube feedings and medications on schedule during school hours; monitor for feeding intolerance
  • Manage oral secretions (sialorrhea) via suctioning and prescribed measures throughout the day
  • Safely transfer and position student in wheelchair for classroom, therapy, and activity transitions
  • Administer scheduled and PRN medications per physician orders and monitor for reactions
  • Assist with personal care needs (toileting/hygiene) and respond to medical emergencies during school hours
  • Document care provided and communicate daily with parents, school staff, and therapists (PT/OT/speech)

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Georgia
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Experience with pediatric trach care required
  • Ability to pass required background check and school district clearance
  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently in a school setting
