How you'll make an impact in this role

Provide lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants. Serve as a lactation-related clinical resource, educator, and mentor.

  • Perform initial and on-going assessments of patients' lactation goals and issues. Instruct and demonstrate proper techniques and promote the importance of breastfeeding.
  • Identify the need for standard patient teaching plans and assist with their development.
  • Act as a liaison to staff and physicians when addressing needs associated with breastfeeding.
  • Contribute to the development of data tools to monitor and improve outcomes.

What minimum qualifications you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

  • One or more of the following required:
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Lactation preferred.
  • Certification specializing in The S. T. A. B. L. E Program preferred.

Education

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
