Travel RN - Medical ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Medical ICU RN for a night shift rotating contract requiring 2+ years of current MICU experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• MICU unit within a cancer hospital setting

• Adult and geriatric patient population

• Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis

• Patients frequently hemodynamically compromised requiring mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis

• Bronchoscopy and endoscopy support for patients with pulmonary and GI conditions

• Night shift, 3x
• 12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)

• 12D/N rotating contract may require scheduling across days, nights, or a combination based on department needs, reviewed every 4-week period

• Patient ratio of 1:2

• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission

• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in MICU, consistently worked within the last 12 months

• Prior travel nursing experience required

• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required

• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction

• Experience accessing/managing ports and EVD management preferred

• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
