About this role

The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.

Shift: Night Shift

Scope Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures. May provide specialized nursing care specific to the practice area. Collects patient data, including vital signs, observations of patient condition, and responses to treatment, and reports findings appropriately.

Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes dressings. Maintains accurate patient records using established documentation practices and electronic medical record systems. Administers medications within the scope of licensure and monitors patient responses to treatment.

Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and applicable federal and state regulations. Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient outcomes. Educates patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Performs IV therapy, blood draws, laboratory testing, and related documentation as permitted by licensure and certification. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and adheres to service excellence standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing program. Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the applicable state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by the position.

Additional specialty certifications may be required based on the department or specialty area. IV certification may be required. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.

Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills. Experience working within an electronic medical record (EMR) system. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
