About this role
LPN – Pediatric Behavioral Health Health Ministries Clinic (HMC) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our integrated Pediatric Behavioral Health care team in Newton, Kansas. This is a full-time position providing an opportunity to support children, adolescents, and families in a collaborative, patient-centered, and mission-driven environment.
As a vital member of our care team at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), you will work closely with behavioral health providers, medical providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the care team to support the physical and behavioral health needs of pediatric patients. What You'll Do Communicate and collaborate with behavioral health providers, primary care providers, medical assistants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for pediatric patients. Provide compassionate, age-appropriate nursing care to children and adolescents in a behavioral health setting. Obtain and document vital signs, health histories, medication information, and other clinical information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as ordered by a healthcare provider and according to established policies and procedures. Monitor patients for changes in physical or behavioral health status and communicate concerns appropriately to the care team. Respond appropriately and compassionately to questions, concerns, and complaints from pediatric patients, parents, guardians, and caregivers.
Support providers with patient assessments, care coordination, and follow-up needs. Assist with maintaining a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for children, adolescents, and families. Create and maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities that support positive patient outcomes. Assist with tracking and maintaining medical supplies and inventory. Maintain confidentiality and follow all applicable healthcare, safety, and organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications Degree in Nursing. Current unrestricted Kansas Practical Nursing License. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; pediatric, behavioral health, school health, clinic, or public health experience preferred.
Current BLS certification. Experience working with children, adolescents, and families preferred. Knowledge of behavioral health and integrated care preferred.
Strong working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR). Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and teamwork skills. Ability to work compassionately and effectively with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
