About this role

PrimeCare Medical is currently looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to work as the Day Shift Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) in the medical department at the Butler County Prison located in Butler, PA. Hours: Full-time Monday - Friday on second OR third shift (2 pm -10:30 pm OR 10 pm - 6:30 am every other weekend) and on-call requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, the ADON will assist the Director of Nursing with managing and evaluating nursing care delivery in accordance with PrimeCare Medical (PCM) philosophy, goals, and objectives. Administrative: Prepare reports as required. Maintain a professional nursing attitude at all times. Maintain a professional working relationship with facility staff, unit staff, contracted providers, outside service providers, and Corporate Staff. Functions as a role model for nursing staff. Make use of established Corporate and Facility policies and procedures in decision-making. Interpret and ensure compliance with established standards of PCM and NCCHC/ACA. Orient, supervise, and evaluate the performance of nursing personnel.

Assign and direct nursing staff. Develop and monitor work schedules and provide coverage with appropriate staff to maintain adequate staffing levels. Clinical: Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps. Provide health counseling to inmates/patients. Conduct sick call for inmates/patients and provide provisional diagnosis and treatment. Refer all cases not covered by written protocol to PCM Physician. Receive and give inter-shift report. Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress. Review, evaluate, and coordinate planning for future admissions. Collect complete ongoing data to determine nursing care needs. Monitor nursing care. Perform all aspects of general and specialized nursing care. Assist physicians during physical examinations and physician visits. Perform initial inmate/patient physical assessment (intake screening). Accompany and assist PCM Physician(s) during facility rounds. Assist the dentist and psychiatrist as needed. Assign duties to PCM Medical nursing staff. Maintain confidentiality at ALL times.
