About this role
The RN in the PACU will provide optimum patient care based on assessment of patient's physical and psychosocial needs. He/she is responsible for planning and implementation of the patient's plan of care, communication with other team members and evaluations of the effectiveness of this care. He/she will provide a positive and professional atmosphere so as to enhance the patient's surgical experience and provide for smooth functioning of the ASC. Hiring for Rochester Surgical Center

- Assist with orientation, incidental teaching, and supervision of professional and non-professional personnel.
- Provide for proper care of equipment and ordering of supplies in assigned areas.
- Maintain a continuing awareness of individual patient needs, both physical and psychosocial and implement care to meet these needs.
- Adhere to the ASC policies and procedures.
- Interpret and communicate information accurately to the appropriate personnel
- Interpret pre and postoperative orders to patient and family.
- Performs post-op evaluation calls.
- Function as charge nurse as requested.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth by participating in continuing education programs and by helping to initiate such programs as necessary.
- Perform other duties as necessary to assure smooth functioning the ASC
- Review schedule for post-op call deficiencies from previous day as assigned and notify charge nurse if deficient.
- Work late as assigned (schedule posted one week in advance)
- Is flexible with own schedule
- Uses good work safety habits
Education
Minimum of two years recovery room experience. ICU or PACU and critical care experience strongly desired.
Currently registered to practice professional nursing in New York State.
Bachelor of Science degree encouraged.
Previous 3-5 years PACU experience desirable.
