Behavioral Health Crisis Nurses (RN/LPN)

Located within The Center for Support and Wellness, a brand-new facility designed to enhance access to behavioral health services, the Crisis Receiving Center will co-locate Colonial Behavioral Health’s crisis and forensic programs, creating a comprehensive hub for assessment, stabilization, treatment, and support. This innovative setting will foster collaboration among behavioral health professionals and provide individuals in crisis with timely, compassionate care in a therapeutic environment.

As a nurse, you'll work alongside psychiatrists, clinicians, peer recovery specialists, and other behavioral health professionals to provide crisis assessment, stabilization, medication administration, and compassionate, recovery-oriented care. We are currently hiring multiple Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our growing Crisis Services team. Job Duties

Provide direct nursing care to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises, including comprehensive nursing assessments, laboratory and toxicology screening, medication administration, health education, and ongoing monitoring for emergent medical concerns. Deliver recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate care while incorporating Zero Suicide/Suicide Safer Care principles. Engage individuals in crisis with cultural humility, respect, and sensitivity to their unique experiences, identities, and treatment preferences.

Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, clinicians, peer recovery specialists, and community agencies to ensure high-quality, coordinated care. Represent the agency on local and regional initiatives, committees, and collaborative partnerships as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

Work hours will vary based on program needs and may include day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts. Flexibility is required, as additional or alternative shifts may be necessary to meet departmental staffing and coverage needs.

The posted salary range reflects compensation for both Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs). Starting compensation will be determined based on licensure, qualifications, and relevant experience.

LPN:$24.52–$26.44 per hour RN:$75,000–$80,000 annually

Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, practices, and techniques. Knowledge of safe medication administration practices, including psychotropic medications, potential side effects, adverse reactions, and drug interactions. Experience providing care to individuals with mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders, including crisis intervention.

Excellent therapeutic communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, law enforcement, and court personnel in a fast-paced crisis environment. Proficiency in documenting assessments, interventions, and services in electronic health records while maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Current license as either a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required. A minimum of at least one year of nursing experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders required. Valid driver's license required.
