- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic techniques and medication protocols.
- Provide specialized care including IV infusion, catheterization, wound suturing, ostomy care, and ventilator management as required.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests, imaging procedures like sonography or mammography, and specimen collection/processing.
- Support patients with complex needs including trauma medicine, critical care (ICU/Level I & II trauma centers), cardiology procedures like cardiac catheterization, and infectious disease management.
- Assist with discharge planning, case management, and patient education to promote recovery and well-being across settings like hospice & palliative medicine or geriatrics.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation for legal and billing purposes using EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
*Skills*
- Extensive experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, neonates (neonatal resuscitation procedures), adults in emergency room or urgent care settings, and seniors in memory or behavioral health care.
- Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures such as tube feeding management, airway management, trauma response techniques, and infection control practices.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and laboratory testing procedures.
- Ability to operate medical equipment including ventilators, phlebotomy tools, Hoyer lifts, and sterile processing techniques.
- Critical thinking skills with experience in triage assessment, acute pain management, post-acute care coordination, and working within hospital medicine or outpatient clinics.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals.
