Overview Under the general supervision of the Sr. Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director provides direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT Full-Time 7pm – 7:30am Responsibilities 1.* Incorporates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. 2.* Communicates with patients, colleagues and management in accurate, considerate and timely manner (written, verbal and electronic). 3. * Employs critical thinking skills to achieve outcomes and solve problems. 4.* Engages in caring relationships that integrate the influence of the human experience of health, illness and/or healing, and relationship-based care. 5.* Manages assignment and material resources effectively. 6.* Applies leadership skills consistent with role and experience. 7.* Incorporates teaching in the delivery of care to promote health and prevent disease and documents when appropriate. 8.* Integrates relevant knowledge and evidence-based practice (utilizing teamwork and collaboration). 9.* Provides specialty-specific care as outlined by Maimonides Medical Center. * Indicates an Essential Job Function. ___________________________________________________________________________________ OTHER JOB DUTIES Maintains competencies in individual field of responsibility Participates in the interview and evaluation of new health care team members Acts as preceptor for new health care team members Utilizes computer systems as they pertain to job responsibilities and in accordance with hospital policy Assures a safe environment and milieu in accordance with organizational policies and procedures Participates in MMC’s ongoing Quality Performance Improvement initiatives; identifies opportunities for organizational improvements. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing school required; BSN preferred. Current NYS licensure as RN required. Current BLS certification required. ACLS & PALS certification preferred. TNCC, ENPC, OR CEN certification preferred. Experience: Professional nursing experience appropriate to the service and the position. Medical / Surgical experience preferred. Skills: Clinical skills for patient care delivery through the nursing process. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Analytical skills Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position; fluency in a second language preferred. Pay Range USD $118,370.27 - USD $118,370.27 /Yr.
