  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems such as Epic and Cerner.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately following HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques, including IV infusion, venipuncture, and medication administration.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and cardiac), tube feeding, ostomy care, and wound management.
  • Monitor patients’ conditions closely in acute care environments like ICU, PICU, or emergency rooms; manage airway devices such as ventilators; and respond swiftly to critical situations including trauma or acute pain episodes.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements like ICD-10 and ICD-9.
  • Educate patients and their families on health coaching, discharge planning, medication management, and chronic disease care such as geriatrics, dementia care, or behavioral health needs.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain accurate medical documentation for legal and billing purposes.

*Experience*

  • Proven experience working in hospital medicine or acute care settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers, emergency rooms, or critical care units like ICU or CCU.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Prior experience in diverse nursing environments such as medical-surgical units, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities (including nursing homes and assisted living), home & community care settings, or hospice & palliative medicine.
  • Skilled in performing complex procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluations like sonography or mammography.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease care protocols along with familiarity with Workers' Compensation law when managing occupational health cases.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays across various age groups including pediatrics (neonatal to toddler) and geriatrics.
  • Strong understanding of physiology knowledge for patient assessment; ability to handle emergency situations such as trauma medicine or urgent care scenarios; proficiency in CPT coding for billing purposes.
