About this role

*Helen's Home Care LLC — Dallas–Fort Worth, TX* *Job type:* PRN / per-visit contract · Flexible schedule · Paid per visit *Pay:* $50/hour for assessment visits, including documentation time · $25 per on-call consult

About us

Helen's Home Care LLC is a family-owned, Texas-licensed Home and Community Support Services Agency (Personal Assistance Services category) serving the Dallas–Fort Worth area. We provide non-medical personal care — bathing and dressing assistance, meal preparation, companionship, mobility support — for adults of all ages who need a hand to live safely and independently at home: seniors, people with disabilities or chronic conditions, and those recovering from surgery, injury, or illness. We're a new, growing agency that runs on doing things properly, and we're looking for a nurse who wants meaningful per-visit work without the demands of a full-time clinical role.

The role

Read the full posting

This is a true PRN, paid-per-visit position — ideal as a second income alongside your current role, or for a nurse stepping back from full-time work who still wants patient contact. You would be our clinical resource, not a shift worker. There are no nights at the bedside, no weekends on a unit, and no minimum hours.

*You will:*

  • Conduct in-home assessments of prospective and current clients (typically 60–90 minutes: home safety, functional needs, fall risk, service suitability)
  • Develop and update individualized, non-medical care plans that guide our personal assistance caregivers
  • Reassess clients periodically or when their condition or needs change
  • Be reachable by phone for occasional clinical questions from our office and caregivers (paid $25 per consult call; call volume is low at our current size)
  • Document assessments and care plans clearly and promptly

*You will not:* provide hands-on skilled nursing, administer medications, or carry a client caseload. We are a non-medical agency; your role is assessment, planning, and clinical guidance within our Personal Assistance Services scope.

What we're looking for

*Required:*

  • Active, unencumbered Texas RN license (or compact-state license valid in Texas) — verified via Nursys before interview
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to client homes across the DFW area
  • Ability to pass criminal history checks and HHSC Employee Misconduct Registry / Nurse Aide Registry screening
  • Strong, clear documentation skills

*Preferred:*

  • Home care, home health, hospice, rehabilitation, disability services, or geriatric experience
  • OASIS or MDS assessment experience a strong plus
  • Experience training or supervising CNAs / non-licensed caregivers
  • Comfort working independently with a small, hands-on leadership team

Why nurses like this arrangement

  • *You control your schedule.* Assessments are booked around your availability, typically with several days' notice.
  • *Paid for all of it — including documentation.* $50/hour covers your time in the home _and_ your time writing it up. Consult calls pay $25 each.
  • *Ground-floor role.* As the agency grows, this position can grow with it — more visits, training involvement, or a larger clinical leadership role if you want it.
  • *A team that takes compliance seriously.* Licensed, insured, and built to pass surveys — you'll never be asked to work outside scope.

Send your resume and Texas RN license number to *care@helenshomecaretx.com* with the subject line "PRN Assessment RN." A short phone screen comes first; we respond to every applicant within two business days.

_Helen's Home Care LLC is an equal opportunity employer. Employment is contingent on license verification, criminal history checks, and HHSC registry screening as required for Texas HCSSA agencies._

Worth asking

The posting doesn’t answer these. Good ones to ask a recruiter or in the interview.

  • Can you walk me through base pay range and differentials?
  • What should I expect for weekly hours, holiday, and rotation?
  • What orientation, preceptor time, and ongoing unit support are included?
  • How are patient load, floating, and staffing support handled day to day?
