Charlotte pairs big-city hospital jobs with a slower Southern pace—milder winters, kind locals, tree-lined streets, mountains 90 minutes west, beaches a few hours east. Costs sit about 3% below the national average, and South End's new towers are softening rents. Walkable Myers Park and Dilworth carry premiums; Ballantyne trades newer HOA homes for space.
